I once went 48 hours without sleep during a stressful project at work. It started innocently enough just a late night or two trying to meet a deadline. But before I knew it, I had slipped into this weird cycle of staying up all night, working, and then crashing during the day for a few hours before getting back to the grind. The first day or so wasn’t too bad; I was fueled by adrenaline and coffee, and I was riding high on the sense of urgency. But by the second night, it was a whole different story.

The tiredness hit me like a wall. I found myself struggling to focus, my thoughts felt foggy, and every task felt like a massive effort. I started getting jittery, and my mood took a dive. I was irritable and had trouble processing information properly. At one point, I even started seeing things out of the corner of my eye, like flashes of movement, which was unsettling. I couldn’t think straight, and I found myself re-reading the same email five times, not absorbing a single word.

By the time I finally went to bed, I was completely wiped out, physically and mentally. I remember my body feeling like it had been through a marathon, and I was desperate for rest. The next day, after a solid 12 hours of sleep, I woke up with a headache and a deep sense of gratitude for sleep. It took a couple of days to fully recover, but I never want to go through something like that again. It was a reminder of just how important sleep is for our health, both physically and mentally.

  1. I also went 48 hours without sleep, and I had the same stuff happen to me as well. I'm glad that you don't want to go through that again.

  2. Going 48 hours without sleep feels really exhausting. I've dealt with similar things that you've experienced and for me when it happens, it's always hard for me to get back on track with sleep
